I started my site because I find a lot of reviews out there lacking. They'd often avoid any constructive criticism and many of the reviews online use very few images. I review bows, rifles and other hunting equipment, I shoot 3 gun, and am a Mapleseed trainer.

Straight Pull AR's in CANADA
Переглядів 8 тис.2 місяці тому
Technically, there are none. AR’s are prohib at the moment and were restricted before then, so there was no good reason to make one into a straight pull. BUT, there are some Canadian-made rifles that use AR parts that are straight pull that you can make some really interesting rifles from. Note: you have to follow relevant laws if you choose to build one of these. I'm sharing my notes but do yo...

The Savage Model 99 is a lever action rifle made in the US. As the name implies, the design originates from 1899 and from the serial number range, this particular rifle is in 303 Savage and was made in either 1900 or 1901, so pretty early into the rifle’s 98 years of production. The Savage Model 334 is a Turkish-made, bolt action hunting rifle. In fact, it’s a rebadged ATA Turkua. It’s priced basically the same as their Savage Axis but is it any good? To both cut to the chase AND break Betteridge’s law, it is good and it’s my new #1 recommendation for a value-priced hunting rifle. 0:00 Intro 0:50 Closer Look 5:18 Trigger Pull 5:48 Trigger Modification 6:53 Magazines 8:...

How to avail?
I have the waterfowl edition m3500. It’s a great gun I’ve had it for around 4-5 years I’ve shot it in all different conditions and places. From trap competitions to duck marshes I love it . Great feel. My only gripe is lately it’s been really picky with shells
Paid $225 at a pawn shop for my 300 Savage made in the mid 1950s. Great investment for my favorite rifle. It just "fits" me perfectly and it's a real beauty. I am at a loss to understand the "ugly" remark. That 300 Savage packs a good punch. My rifle has a pistol grip which makes it easier to handle. It also has been neatly drilled and tapped for a Williams scope mount that really adds to the rifle's useability. These rifles are well loved and definitely going up in price.
That’s great! I’ve got a drawer full of “precision screwdrivers” that I can now put to use 😉 great video!
Im🎉going with the Axis
Anybody know where to find savage 300 ammo ???
It's really tough. My advice: find someone who is selling the whole gun and see if they have any ammo. Or reload
@@Huntinggearguy I found one shop that had two boxes last year.... Now it's nowhere to be found
Just look for 6.5x55 SKAN load from loading manuals. That is for modern actions.
What mags are those?
Cross Mags
Any feeding issues with those mags? I've read conflicting info.
I've heard some people had issues with gen1, I haven't had any issues with either Gen1 or Gen2
Great video! Should I be removing the trigger group to clean individually if it's my first clean? Or is it sufficient to just reach in there and wipe the excess gunk off and put a light oil coat? Thanks!
Eh, I wouldn't bother removing the trigger group normally.
@@Huntinggearguy got it, thanks again!
At 3:50, the snap cap got stuck, which is why there's a cut in the video. This will happen almost every time with this Stil Crin brand; I experienced the same thing during practice.
Hey i watched your video and it was knowable and i subscribed! I wanna tell you my opinion on if you've placed your rifle into vice instead of holding it in your hand and didn't move it it would have given other result 😎
I’ve got these in all 3 gauges, love them, the 3 of them cost less than one pump 😅
there must be brass everywhere ?
Yeah, I have a ton of it now.
@@Huntinggearguy I had the same problem with my Frankford Arsenal trimmer so I cut a couple os holes in a smaller sized box one for the trimmer and the other for my hand. and trimmed cases while they were inside box. Cut a larger hole in top and placed see thru plastic sheet over hole so I could see in. Worked very well. I use a Guard tri-way trimmer now that has a plastic shield around it to hold brass trimmings until I take shield off and dump in a bag.
Thanks. I bought few for X95 then year later I watched you video. No issues so far.
What kind of ammo was you shooting on the good group
it is simply dead to me cuz I did not buy handgun earlier.
and semi-auto options are little and they are also overpriced.
Many 3 gun clubs offer a PCC+Shotgun division now for people in your predicament.
Safety
With the locked mag you can load round one at a time from the top. Much quieter and quicker than a whole mag.
This is one of the best reviews of this rifle on UA-cam you did a very good job simplifying the breakdown of the components... I have had one for a few years now I have found that if you use a pair of vice grips to tighten the barrel nut good and tight I've gotten great accuracy. On a side note there are 20 round magazines available now I bought two of them. And regretted it immediately neither one will work properly until there's less than 10 rounds in the magazine so virtually a 10-round magazine. I've done everything I could think of and everything I've seen online to try to make them reliable. Over 10 rounds they're not
Thank you 😊
👎
I have an AR pistol with a 1x6 optic and an offset red dot. AND I have a 6.5 creedmoor AR10 with a 5x25 optic and an offset red dot. Having trouble finding affordable cases for them. Previously had a single case for each. But don't fit with the offset. So I'm starting to look at the soft cases and like what this has to offer. Just not sure how it would do with 2 rifles that each have an offset.
They'd fit but you might need to put them in opposing directions so that the offset red dots didn't stack in the same spot.
Thanks, I've just picked up a used one, my first handgun. What is the purpose of the half cock position on the hammer? Unfortunately the original owners manual was lost.
Just another safety. If the hammer ever fell because the gun got bumped when the trigger wasn't pressed, the half-cock position might catch it before it fired. Plus, with the hammer all the way down, it's just resting on the firing pin. Wouldn't want to do that with a live round in the chamber.
gd day sir
Thanks for the great review! In terms of reliability, do you have any feedback comparing this rifle to the Black Creek Labs SRV2 in .556? For some reason nobody sells it in 7.62.
This is far more reliable than the Siberian in my first hand experience
@@Huntinggearguy awesome thanks man!
The one and only optic that works on an SKS is a barrel mounted red dot. ua-cam.com/video/8DzETuqtyfU/v-deo.html
I know you did this a long time ago, but thank you. I just got me one of these NANUK cases (July 2024), in fact I picked up the whole Nano line and your video was a quick place to show the strap applications in an easy to see and understand way. Thank so much sir!!
Glad I could help!
If you handload a modern 6.5x55 it will outperform the creed in every way
Great video, but would you be allowed to tell us which ammos you used on those nails?? That would really be beneficial.
This gun looks like toy gun when you hold it
Is there a loader for sig sp 2022
Have 2 FN-49s. Both 7mm. One of them is unfired and still covered with cosmoline. That said, wiping a surface down with a paper towel WILL NOT get rid of corrosive salts from the primer. (I don't know why you'd be shooting corrosive ammo anyway.) Aside from old GI bore cleaner from ww2 or Korea, good old soap and water is the best way to dissolve corrosive salts...and yes, you'll need to clean the gas system. If you haven't fired it in a while and you were able to wipe off corrosive salts, you might as well just chuck it because the bore is toast. You have to clean IMMEDIATELY after using corrosive ammo.
Damn your hands weren't even cold too!? 👎😂 Damn life is too short for this🤣
I get great groups with the Winchester ammo. Especially for the price
Here is 🇦🇺 it comes down to cost. I get 6.5 Swede nearly $10 a box cheaper than I could get creedmoor, others here might have a different price at shops. We are lucky to get european brand ammo in 6.5 which is cheaper, US stuff is pricey due to exchange rate
NUT STUCK ON 1100 HOLDS BARREL
Don’t use the rubber top nut. Use a washer and wing nut. It’ll keep it quieter
I'll have to try that next time.
Another point to the swede is the extremely long barrel life
I went back a third time on my bolt lock polished and deburd and it still doesn't auto release. Don't know what I'm not doing to make it auto release 🤔
I really like your gun reviews! You take your time and explain things properly and clearly! Really nice little Bullpup shotty! 😊
Way too picky for the price thats a sniper rifle bro
My trigger housing is metal not plastic. Mine is pretty old though.
Whats the verdict after 2 years? Im in an odd position wherre my arc rails are not coming in far enough on my converted CVC helmet lol so i need a further reaching cup
Also do you have a link?
They're still holding up: amzn.to/4d7gFuL
No need for Blue Loctite? Thanks for the vid!
Mine haven't shot loose yet and its been 3 years.
I have heard that you can't use choke tubes any more?
Why not?
@@Huntinggearguy New Canadian gun lows.
Nah, you can still use chokes.
FX9? JR Carbine? Decent rifles/carbines IMO
I was happy to have my Swede during the ammo shortages. As a European caliber, I was always able to get plenty of ammo from S&B and the other European manufacturers, and at a good price. Your price comparo should have been to those manufacturers. Was always able to find plenty via AmmoSeek.
